Bye bye

A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that stage used to
make me smile
And I knew that if I had my chance
I could make those trainees dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while…

And in the streets the trainees screamed

The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the trainees I admire most
***, ** and the Holy Ghost (must be M***)
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

And they started singin'..

Bye bye Miss “Bulgarian High”
Drove my Chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This will be the day that I cry,
This will be the day that I cry…"

L.S.,

Don McLean! How glorious is it that our Goddess of Blog knows even 1970s American "rock" music.
