In 2005, Al Gore was honored with a lifetime achievement Webby Award. Told that his acceptance speech must be limited to five words, Gore waited for silence before counting on fingers as he delivered these words: "Please don't recount this vote!"
I would say the same.

1. It works better if you click on the links backwards, i.e. starting with the last one.
2. If you'll allow me to be a snitch for a moment: A certain Bulgarian lady commented that it looked like the funeral of an Italian Mafia boss. She didn't like my sunglasses!
Martin
L.S.,
You're right, I forgot. Thank you all for organising the thing, it was great fun!
Martin
The event looks fabulous!
I commented only Martin's sunglasses, which combined with the suit give the mafia boss impression.
To be honest, this was meant as a compliment.

@ Angelina:
How is: "you look like a Mafia boss" a compliment?
Martin
Mafia bosses in movies are young& cool, certainly good-looking people, who turn out to be fighters for justice in the end...
j'ai rien à dire, mais je veux faire le commentaire nº20!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105236/
...et je vois que martin n'a rien à dire non plus.
L.S.,
what can I say when Angelina, in her own Bulgarian way, says so many nice things about me?
It's just that, given Bulgaria's reputation when it comes to organised crime, I'd think she would have used another simile.
Anyway, now that she's explained it, I am profoundly honoured.
Ciao,
Martin
Martin, what do you know about "Bulgaria's reputation when it comes to organised crime"? Clearly, nothing more than what they say in your newspapers!
If you just try to say something about Bulgaria again, I'll ask the administrator of the blog to block your access.
Ciao!
L.S.,
I wish Bulgaria all the best, I think it would be good for both Bulgaria and the EU if Bulgaria joined sooner rather than later, but a problem still exists. Certainly, progress is being made, but in the meantime I think it would be better to have a sense of humour about it.
Martin
2006 Monitoring report:
page 35: "There remain serious concerns about the effectiveness of Bulgaria's fight against organised
crime. While this has been a stated national priority there are still no tangible results in
investigating and prosecuting organised crime networks, including the implementation of a
multi-disciplinary strategy."
2005 Monitoring report:
page 9: "However, in
practice progress in the combating of organised crime remained very limited."
page 66: "Very serious concerns exist about the high levels of organised crime in Bulgaria, which so far
has not been a priority on the political agenda. In particularly the frequent contract killings of
people linked to organised crime groups represent a significant challenge to the rule of law.
Some types of organised crime, such as trafficking in human beings, including some cases of
illegal adoption, exploitation of prostitution, trafficking in stolen vehicles and insurance
fraud as well as currency and document counterfeiting, which originate within Bulgaria itself
affect EU member states directly. Immediate action is required to enhance the Bulgarian
state’s response to organised crime."
Thank you for the detailed information, my dear Martin!
Isn’t it funny, my dear reader of the blog?!
At the beginning of the stage, we (everybody in our office) were wondering if Martin Holterman is awkward or just ******. I think I finally got the answer (the others were faster than me). Knowing his great sense of humour, I’m sure Martin will laugh about that during the next two weeks :D
How many positive things beat one negative thing?
Let's say 10:
5 X SORRY +
5 GREAT THINGS ABOUT BULGARIA
Martin, your deadline is tomorrow 9.00!
L.S.,
Angelina! You know that I don't even know five things about Bulgaria full stop, let alone five positive things. The only really good thing about Bulgaria I know is that it is where you and Atanaska are from. But I can do the sorries:
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
Martin
